Frequently Asked Questions

My Senior Living Advisor  offers a FREE service to families looking for senior care resources, including assisted living, dementia or Alzheimer’s care facilities, or home care services. Our Local Senior Living Advisors start by offering a consultation to understand the specific needs of each family. Our Advisors will take the time to educate each family on the types of options available and the general costs associated. Based on the specifics of each case we will do the leg work in determining all the options that are capable of providing what you’re looking for. Additionally, we will contact these communities or service providers to determine availability. Next our Advisors will set up tours and meetings so you can learn more details of each available option. We will reconvene with your family to review your thoughts and discuss the pros and cons of each community you’ve seen. Through this process you will either pick a community to relocate your loved one to or we will provide additional options that more closely resemble what you’re looking for based on your feedback. Leading up to the move we will provide additional resources including moving services and/or any other health care providers that will make sure your loved one is well cared for.

My Senior Living Advisor is a FREE senior living referral service for the individuals and families we are assisting in their search. Here’s what that means: My Senior Living Advisor contracts with senior living providers including independent living, assisted living, residential board and care homes and memory care communities to match families with the communities that best fit their needs. The contracts signed state that the community our clients move into will compensate My Senior Living Advisor a percentage of the first month’s rent for making that referral.

My Senior Living Advisor charges fifty percent (75%) of the first month’s rent to ALL communities in our database, unlike many of our competitors that charge various rates depending on how much a community is willing to pay. Our focus is to deliver unbiased service and represent our clients’ best interest. By collecting the same fee from every community we are able to focus on our clients’ needs rather than on our pockets. The other benefits included in My Senior Living Advisor charging the lowest rates in the industry is that our clients’ have priority on available beds in the community of their choice; every community prefers to pay lower fees rather than higher fees.

Our Local Senior Living Advisors personally visit each community that we refer families to before ever sending a referral. Our professionalism lies solely in our knowledge of the product and saving families the time and energy from having to find senior care homes on their own. The process starts by reviewing all licenses issued by the Department of Social Services. Beyond looking at licensing records, we schedule initial tours to meet with each communities’ Administrator or Marketing Director. We inspect common areas, peek into each room, learn how medication is stored/dispensed, open the refrigerator to ensure there is fresh produce, pull back shower curtains to confirm ease of access and cleanliness, and take many more steps to learn about where we are sending people to receive the care they require.

Yes, My Senior Living Advisor has built a close relationship with the Department of Social Services in which our staff gets updates on pending licenses and newly issued licenses in all the areas we work. Upon licensing, we contact community Administrators and schedule tours to begin our relationship.

Yes, we ONLY work with licensed facilities. Within this process, we also are happy to share licensing records with each family we work with so they can see what goes on behind the scenes as well as be aware of citations and violations.

Each community My Senior Living Advisor refers to is independently owned and operated. It is very important to us that customers and families are satisfied with the care and service they receive at each community. Most communities have a thirty day notice policy to vacate and our team is happy to find alternative solutions that may more closely resemble what you’re looking for. Although we discourage making multiple moves, we understand that things are not always perfect and we strive to find what’s best for each individual. Through this process, we hope to collect information from each family on where their dissatisfaction lies with a specific community. We work with these communities and encourage them to improve their operations. As is the case in many industries, an operation can only improve if there is self-awareness and feedback. The information and feedback we gather about each community helps us do a better job with future referrals to better match individuals with care providers.
